Hi! I am Halee and I blog over at haleesthoughts.weebly.com! (just about to be haleesthoughts.com!) I am 16 years old and live in a small town in Oklahoma. I love Nutella, Pinterest, traveling, and inspiring others to be their best selves. Be sure to follow me on Instagram @haleesthoughts.
Alec asked me to guest post and I was so excited because I love the topic she chose, "How do you press forward with a steadfastness in Christ?"
I think that pressing forward with a steadfastness in Christ is a daily decision that requires daily actions.
When I think about the things we need to do everyday to stay steadfast in Christ the chalkboard answers come to mind. Read your scriptures. Say your prayers. Go to church. You get it. But, those are exactly what you need to be doing in order to be pressing forward. Those little things are the big things. They are what are so important.
A few years ago I remember thinking, I am sick and tired of everything saying that when you read your scriptures and say your prayers your life changes. Honestly, I didn't understand how the little things like those could make such a BIG difference in your life, I wanted to see if it really could make that big of a difference in my life, so I committed myself to reading my scriptures and saying my prayers every single night no matter what or how late.
Little by little I started seeing BIG improvements. It was really strange how my life seems to sift for toward the good. I definitely had a better perspective and nothing seemed to be as big of a deal. My thoughts were more focused on Christ. I started developing a stronger testimony not only of the gospel in general but of scripture study and prayer. It was easier for me to talk about my religion and what I believed. I had more confidence because I knew whose I was.
Being the only LDS person (besides my siblings) at school at that time it made a huge difference in my confidence of my religion. I was able to talk about it without wanting to end the conversion immediately because I didn't want them to ask my anything I didn't know how to answer.
Doing those seemingly LITTLE things not only made a BIG difference in my life but they helped me stay steadfast in Christ and I was able to better put my trust in Him. So honestly, to me pressing forward with a steadfastness in Christ means doing those little daily actions and putting my complete trust in Him. Because the little things made the biggest difference. I promise. Try it.

WATCH this brand new Mormon Message all about choices. It's one of my favorites. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2k6QRYAG16E
God has given us the gift of agency.. We can act and choose for ourselves. IT IS A BLESSING. You have this beautiful life that Heavenly Father gave you AND He trusts you so much to make your own choices. How incredible is that?
I love choices because we can show God how much we love and care about Him.
With everything in life, there is OPPOSITION! Sooo.. We can also make choices that lead us away from God. This happens ALOT because we are not perfect. Sometimes, the world seems so appealing.
But, YOU GOT TO PRESS FORWARD. Don't give up and remember what the Lord has promised you if you do keep the commandments. EVERLASTING HAPPINESS can be yours. The plan is perfect and God loves you. His main purpose is "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." YOU ARE SO IMPORTANT TO HIM. Make Heavenly Father proud and be sincere. It's worth it. EVERY EFFORT towards the Father is worth it.
I remember hanging out with a bunch of new friends and being so excited! But, they weren't planning an appropriate game.. And I just felt uncomfortable! I LEFT. I walked outside and sat in the cold. (It was freezing, let me tell you. Haha.) Yeah, it was weird and I think they were all confused. But, it was worth it. BY SMALL AND SIMPLE MEANS are great things brought to pass.
My best friend told me that she walked out of a movie because it wasn't appropriate.. It may sound simple. BUT, IT'S NOT. It takes so much courage to stand up. It takes a lot of courage to leave when everyone is watching you and wondering why you left. I applaud her for being virtuous and choosing the right.
I have never regretted following Jesus Christ and I know you won't either. Recommit to God and do your best. You got this!
Hello, everyone! I am SO excited to be reviewing this book. Huge thanks to Cedar Fort for putting on this blog tour and STUART EDGE for writing this book. and being his awesome self.
About the Book:
Everyone has had that one awful job, but Stuart Edge really had an awful job–cleaning porta-potties. As he cleaned, he dreamed of creating videos that not only made people laugh but also changed their lives. Now a YouTube sensation, Stuart shares his secrets to his YouTube success and reveals his conversion from self-conscious to confident and how being true to his beliefs made all the difference.
My Opinion on "On the Edge":
If any of you know me, I love YouTube. Even though I haven't made a video for seven months, you better believe that I watch YouTube videos like it's TV-- so almost everyday. Hahah. There are a lot of social media influencers who create positive and uplifting content. STUART EDGE is one of those people! I really enjoyed this autobiography! He talks about his parents' divorce, moving to Mexico, serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and finding his true passion (while working for a porta-pottie company?!). Even though I don't know Edge personally, I am so proud of him! He never gave up and worked hard. With "sticky notes" in the margins, Edge shares the big lessons he learned in the small daily experiences. Through out his life, he turns to God and his faith. I think that is incredible! Heavenly Father does care about our desires and our dreams, we just need to go to Him. Even though Stuart Edge has gained a lot of fame, he is grounded and understands what is most important. It doesn't matter the number of views, but rather having integrity and being proud of the content you put out there. I have dealt with a lot of the same things Stuart Edge has and I love being inspired to follow my dreams. This book was amazing!
About the Author:
Stuart Edge was earning money for college tuition by cleaning portable toilets when inspiration hit: “Make YouTube Videos That Make People Happy.” Only months later, he called his mother in a panic. “Please pray for me. I think one of my videos just went viral.” The Mistletoe Kissing Prank did indeed go viral, netting more than 27 million views to date. Several viral videos later, Stuart Edge has found fame, and possibly fortune, making people laugh. Not bad for a boy with social anxiety.
This book is ALEC MARIE approved. Hahah. Buy it online now!

Disclaimer: Cedar Fort did provide me a free copy of the book. However, all opinions are my own.
I have never been so happy in my entire life than starting my mission papers, completing them.. and then getting my call to serve.. AND THIS is just the beginning!
WHAT IS MY PURPOSE AS A MISSIONARY?
"To invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end."
GUESS WHERE I AM GOING TO BE FOR THE NEXT 18 MONTHS OF MY LIFE? I have been called to serve in the MISSISSIPPI JACKSON mission! (It covers parts of Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas! WOAH.) I report on June 15th to the Provo MTC (Missionary Training Center) and I am OVERWHELMED with joy! Hahah. I would have never guessed Mississippi.. but it feels so right! I already love the South with all my heart and can not wait to serve the people down there. I have been called by God to serve there.. and I know that to be true. THIS is the perfect place for me.
SO WHAT WILL I BE DOING?? I am teaching about Jesus Christ and serving. (Read my purpose above!) For 18 months, I will be doing the Lord's work and helping to build the kingdom of God here on this Earth. WHAT COULD BE BETTER? "To cry repentance unto this people.. and bring one soul unto [me]." WOW. I know that all of us can find peace, love, everlasting joy.. and essentially ETERNAL LIFE.. if we follow Jesus Christ and have that desire. He sacrificed for us. He died for us.. and He lives FOR US. So powerful. I know that Jesus Christ lives!
I am only 19 years old.. and I am so grateful for this opportunity. I know God trusts me. I need to be humble and work my hardest for Him! With God, ANYTHING is possible. I've always wanted to serve the mission.. so, the greatest thing is knowing it is what God wants me to do, too.
I will never truly understand what I will be doing until I am out in the mission field. But, I am preparing my best.. I AM READY TO LEARN. I am ready to change. I am ready to give my 100%. It's all for this gospel. THIS is what truly matters.
Being a missionary does not start when you wear a name tag... YOU can be a missionary RIGHT NOW. And actually, you are supposed to be! When we are baptized, we make that commitment with the Lord to "stand as a witness". It is a commandment. We promised Him. So.. find ways to share the gospel. Pray for opportunities. Live the gospel joyfully. You will be blessed.
EVEN SHARE THE GOSPEL ONLINE: https://www.lds.org/church/share?lang=eng
I could talk on and on about going on a mission! JUNE 15TH CAN NOT COME FAST ENOUGH. Hahah. Thank you to all for the support and love.. I truly appreciate it. If you would like to hear more about the mission.. whether it be tips, my preparation, my experiences.. just COMMENT on this post!
- Alec Marie
Last Sunday was Fast Sunday.. So, you may or may not know where this story is going. Hahah.
"In the Church today, one Sabbath day each month is set aside for the purpose of fasting. Members of the Church go without food and water for two consecutive meals in a 24-hour period and then contribute the money that would have been spent for that food to those in need."
To learn more about the law of the fast, click this link! https://www.lds.org/topics/fasting-and-fast-offerings?lang=eng
We bought Papa John's pizza last Saturday night. We ate it for dinner and it was delicious! I love the classic pepperoni and you better believe I use the garlic butter stuff! Oh my goodness. My mouth is watering right now because I am so hungry.. AND PIZZA always sounds amazing! You should comment on this post where you get your favorite pizza. Papa John's is definitely on top, especially because we get killer deals.
We seriously bought like five boxes of pizza for our family of five. LOL. It was just a great deal and we could have leftovers. BUT, THE PROBLEM IS.. the next day was Sunday... fast Sunday. We would be fasting two meals and not eating or drinking. SO, that means absolutely no pizza. WHAT?! Hahah.
I usually am really good about fasting. But, oh my goodness. I HAD A ROUGH TIME. I kept going into the kitchen. I kept opening the fridge and longing for the pepperoni pizza. I was only thinking about FOOD and I was so hungry. Basically, I did everything you are NOT supposed to do when trying to fast. AND GUESS WHAT? I completely lost it and ate two whole slices. I am SO NOT proud of it.
I popped those two slices of pizza in the toaster oven and felt so bad the entire time. BUT THEN, I STILL ATE THE PIZZA. And let me tell you.. the pizza was horrible. I am not joking. It didn't even taste good. I just felt so bad for having no self control that I couldn't even enjoy my beloved (or so I thought) pizza. IT WAS NOT WORTH IT. I should not have broken my fast.
Fasting is a commandment-- truly a law given to us by the Lord. He has amazing blessings in store for us if we follow this commandment.
"Blessings associated with the law of the fast include closeness to the Lord, increased spiritual strength, temporal well-being, greater compassion, and a stronger desire to serve.”
^Who doesn't want these blessings? Seriously.. so awesome!
I am writing this blog post to not only emphasize how important the law of the fast is.. but how important all the commandments are. I gave into temptation. I sinned. I longed for that pizza. I didn't have my eye on the goal. I thought two slices of pizza was more important than God and what He has asked for me. Some people may think I am being crazy, but "by small and simple means are great things brought to pass." I say it all the time.. but all your choices matter! Why did I even go into the kitchen? Hahah. If you know there is going to be alcohol at a party; why even go to the party? Seriously though, let us all stand up for what is right. Let us "press forward in a steadfastness in Christ." He will lead us and guide us. I sinned. But, I can repent and try again. I don't need to feel bad about it anymore. I can just work on the NOW and my choices NOW. You will not feel good if you sin.. it's just not possible. It could be a temporary pleasure, but don't you want the real and everlasting joy that comes through Jesus Christ? THAT is the goal. Follow the commandments; because it is the way back to live with our Father in Heaven.
Thank you all for everything and have the best day!

One of my favorite talks EVER is from the last General Conference (October 2015). President Henry B. Eyring spoke on the Holy Ghost. You need to read it or listen to it.. because THIS TALK inspires me everyday. I have looked at the Sacrament in a new light and I love learning about the third member of the Godhead. (I even gave my own talk ON this talk in December! Hahah, I just love it that much!)
HERE IS THE LINK.. https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/10/the-holy-ghost-as-your-companion?lang=eng
If you don't know who the Holy Ghost is or what I am talking about.. this other link will help you to understand and learn more. https://www.lds.org/topics/holy-ghost?lang=eng
The Holy Ghost can guide and direct us on our path of life. He can help us to know what is good and what is bad! You will be able to discern and avoid temptation. THAT alone makes me want to be worthy to have the Holy Ghost with me. But, that's not it. The Holy Ghost testifies of truth and bears witness of the Father and the Son. You can know for yourself if the gospel is true! The Holy Ghost is a comforter. We can feel peace and understand more fully the Plan of Salvation.
I think we can all agree that the Holy Ghost is a huge blessing. Without the Holy Ghost, we would never know the truth fully and with surety. It would be impossible! God loves us, so He gave us this gift-- the gift of the Holy Ghost, which is given to us through priesthood authority after baptism.
I want this blog post to open your heart and inspire you to have the Spirit with you always.. which is the promise we get in the sacrament prayer if we live worthy of it. It's my favorite promise. To always have a member of the Godhead with us? It's incredible.. AND IT'S PROMISED TO US by our Heavenly Father! How cool is that?
Here are some tips to help you have the Spirit with you always.. Trust me, it is very hard. We do things on a daily basis that offend the Spirit, even when we don't mean to. But, it's always a new day because of the Atonement. You can do this! It is so worth it to turn to God and have the Spirit in your life. You will FEEL the difference.
1. CLEAN YOUR SPACE. This may sound crazy coming from me.. (Because as I type, my room is a total mess.) .. but the Spirit can not dwell in unholy places. If your house/room is a wreck, it will be hard to feel at peace. There will be something off and you will feel unorganized. Even though cleaning seems like such a temporal thing, it will affect your ability to listen to the promptings of the Spirit. I know I need to do better at this. Ashley Frederickson, founder of PowerOfOneGirl, reminded me the other day of how importance it is to use SATURDAY to help you get ready for SUNDAY. I challenge everyone to get your house in order for the Sabbath and it will make your house a beautiful place for the Spirit to be.
2. HAVE QUIET MORNINGS. I absolutely love this and was definitely inspired by Al Carraway and IT HAS HELPED ME SO MUCH. I wake up every day.. AND I resist the temptation to look at my phone. I kneel down at my bed (Yes, kneeling makes it 1000x more powerful!) and pray to my Father in Heaven. I try to be awake and really think about what I am saying. It's incredible knowing that God listens. I can testify that He does. After that, when I go to eat breakfast.. I READ MY SCRIPTURES. For me, this has been a perfect time. As Al Carraway would said, you're feeding the body and the spirit. AND I LOVE THAT. It's important to do both and keep yourself healthy-- temporally and spiritually. I have noticed a difference completely. I am showing God that I care more about saying prayers and reading scriptures than anything else. THEN, because you are doing amazing things.. you will have the Spirit with you immediately.. AS SOON AS YOU WAKE UP. Wow. It has changed my whole world, truly. I used to have scripture study at the way end of my night.. and it was so hard. I would fall asleep EVERY TIME. Also, don't we need the power of scripture to help us through out our day? I think so! I testify that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and it will change your life... read it everyday!
3. FILL YOUR MIND WITH THE GOOD. I could talk about this topic forever. But, everything you do matters! So, please think about your standards. Remember the covenants you have made with the Lord-- to always remember Him. Can you remember Him when you are watching a very inappropriate TV show? Having the Spirit with you is way more important than listening to that song on the radio.. It can be hard because we live in this very appealing world. BUT, YOU GOT THIS. I am not perfect at everything. But, I try to remember "what would Jesus do?". NOW.. here is the fun part; filling your mind with good things. I can't help but think about the Thirteenth Article of Faith.. "anything that is virtuous."
--- I LISTEN to Mormon Channel Daily every day. Hahah. I love Charlotte (the host). They are always ten minutes or less and the topics are always what I need. AND YOU NEED IT IN YOUR LIFE.. so start listening. I listen when I am in the car or at my house. It's so great. http://www.mormonchannel.org/listen/series/mormon-channel-daily-audio
--- CONFERENCE TALKS WILL SAVE YOU, because they save me. Conference talks are not just for conference weekend.. they are for always.. because the talks ARE SCRIPTURE-- truly the words of God. I know this to be true. I have found a new love for modern day prophets and revelation. I am sooo excited for Conference this weekend. ARE YOU TUNING IN? Make time this weekend to really watch and listen. You will be blessed! PREPARE for this weekend with questions.. https://www.lds.org/general-conference/answers-to-personal-questions?cid=HP_MO_28-3-2016_dPFD_fGC_xLIDyL1-A_&lang=eng
--- De-clutter your social media. I use social media constantly. But, what helps me.. is that I only follow and read GOOD THINGS. Social media is what you make of it. If you don't feel uplifted, you might want to re-evaluate who you follow. ONE OF THE BEST THINGS.. is following all of the apostles on Facebook and Twitter. https://www.lds.org/media-library/social?lang=eng
4. MAKE THE TEMPLE YOUR GOAL. It needs to be your main focus. Go to the temple often. Plan the temple in your schedule.. it is worth it. And we are so blessed to be so close to a temple! I have found so much joy in going once a week to perform sacred ordinances inside those walls of the temple. The temple is not of this world.. you will feel the Spirit. You will start to care more about your eternal purpose than anything else. As you serve in the temple, you will feel God's love for you. You will love your family more and life makes more sense. It is true. You will find PEACE. If you can not go inside the temple right now, go to the Visitor's Center. I always have an incredible time talking to the missionaries and reading my scriptures on the grounds. You will know you are in a sacred place. ALWAYS make the temple a goal.. I don't know how many times I can say it. But, I love the temple! And I want you to love the temple, too! Hang pictures in your bedroom and your house of the temple.. As you focus on the temple, your focus will also be on the Savior, Jesus Christ. You will always remember Him.
I hope you learned something! Please comment below what you do in your own life to have the Spirit with you always. You will be comforted, you will be able to resist temptation, you will know what is true.. the blessings of having the Spirit with you are indescribable. Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week.

It is my day in the blog tour! Big thanks to Cedar Fort and Jessica Poe. I am so thrilled to be reviewing this book.
About the Book:
Discover the divine purpose in your motherhood! Each inspiring chapter moves through another hour in a mother’s day, highlighting spiritually symbolic insights and describing how Christ is by your side even during the daily routine. From sun-up to bedtime, this entertaining and uplifting book will help you find the inherent divinity hidden in the every day details of motherhood.
My Opinion on "Everyday MOMents":
Everyday "MOMents" is the perfect book to add to your collection. I'm not even a mother yet, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Jessica takes you on an adventure of ONE day in her life-- raising three beautiful children. We all get caught up in the repetitive and mundane tasks each day holds. But, Jessica shares a message like no other. She shows you how to find Christ in everything you do. She teaches us how to listen to the quiet whisperings of the Spirit. And she explores how to find joy in the journey. Jessica has personal anecdotes that we can all relate to whether it be a dirty diaper, finding time for prayers, her father's illness, and fulfilling a church calling. She expresses her love for the Savior and that she truly couldn't do this life on her own. We need the strength found in the Atonement. With scriptures and quotations from the prophets, I left each chapter refreshed and ready for anything life throws at me. Although I was only reading the book, it felt like I was having a conversation with myself and the text. A lot of the lessons in this book, I have pondered before.. which was incredible to know that I am not alone in my thoughts. Truly inspiring, Jessica invites you to start your own journal and keep all the daily "MOMents" in one place. For we surely can find spiritual symbolism in our temporal life. It is exciting to know that we can find happiness now and that God wants the best for His children. Life is beautiful!

I loved this book and highly recommend it for anyone out there! This would be a perfect Mother's Day gift. Order it now!

Oh my goodness! HELLO everyone! Hope you are having the best week ever. And I'm not kidding.. hope you are living life to the fullest and really TRYING your best. I believe in you. God believes in you.
Being a Latter Day Saint, there can be a stereotype that there are a lot of "rules" to being a member. We don't drink coffee. We don't go shopping on Sundays. There could be a long list of "DON'T's". But, it's not like that. God has given us commandments, and I want to follow them. Just as John 14:15 says, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." I love my God. I want to serve Him. By following and sticking to my standards, I have found greater happiness than I could have ever imagined. It's not simple and it doesn't happen over night. But as I come closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ.. I can feel the difference. AND IT'S WORTH IT.
That is my topic for today's blog post.. That it is worth it to follow God. It is worth it to have faith in Him and everything He commands. For example, I choose not to cuss. I don't think saying bad words brings the Spirit into my life and I don't like it. Many people would argue that everyone says bad words.. so, who even cares?! This idea that if everyone else is swearing, does it really matter if you don't swear? On the outside looking in.... maybe, it doesn't matter. Maybe, swearing ONCE won't kill you. You're right, it won't. BUT.. I choose to not even go there. I choose to not cuss and that's the end of the story. I don't want to look back on my life and think "I knew what I was supposed to do, but I just didn't do it to the best of my ability." Your simple daily habits affect who you are as a person. The small daily positive efforts to strengthen your relationship with Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ matter! So say those prayers, study those scriptures, be modest in dress and in word/action, go to church because you want to, and live the life God would have you live.
We all make mistakes. We all say things we shouldn't. We all try and fail. But, Christ's Atonement is real. Start today to be the person you want to be. It doesn't matter what the world does, what everyone at school does, or the celebrities on TV. There is an unchanging God out there. He lives, He is real, and He loves you. With that knowledge alone, I am so willing to surrender myself to serve my Heavenly Father. I mess up, but I can try again because of repentance, God's love for us, and Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice.
I am so grateful for LIFE and to be living right now. Stand up for what you believe in, even if it seems like you're alone. I testify that you're not alone and you can do this! Choose to be on God's side and He will direct you through the power of the Holy Ghost.
- Alec Marie
COMMENT ON THIS POST something you are grateful for right now.
I am writing this on a Sunday though and Sunday is truly the greatest day of the week. We have the incredible opportunity to partake of the holy sacrament and renew our baptismal covenants. I am grateful every time to go to church and feel the Spirit of the Lord. I'm always learning.
A lot of things have been on my mind lately.. But, the first is that I am beyond blessed. I can not comprehend God's love for me because it is so vast and eternal. The best part is that He loves all of His children-- that means you, too! We are all spirit sons and daughters of Heavenly parents.
The other thing that has been on my mind is how not everybody KNOWS that they are blessed. WE HAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL LIFE.. and we all seem to take it for granted way too often. But, is my life that great? Couldn't my life be mediocre and average? IT COULD.. but only if you label it as such. We have DIVINE POTENTIAL. Stop looking in the past to figure out your future. Start today. Be positive and have faith in Heavenly Father that He will guide you to be who you are supposed to be. You are so much more than just a label. I also love the saying "It's a bad day, not a bad life."
I had two people ask me yesterday at two different times, "How life was going?" for me. I replied, honestly.. 'WONDERFULLY." Both immediately told me that was great.. but that just means something bad is around the corner. They were implying that life was just a bunch of ups and downs. That because my life was so amazing right now, it couldn't possibly stay that way. I WAS SHOCKED. They have no idea how negative I saw those remarks. I have NEVER looked at life like that..(which I am grateful for). There is no doubt that LIFE IS DIFFICULT. We deal with trials, problems, and hardships on a daily basis! More than half the time.. IT ISN'T EVEN OUR FAULT. Half the time, life can seem so unfair. It's overwhelming, trying, and simply not as "wonderful" as I make it out to be. BUT GUESS WHAT? It's all about the way you think of it.
You can choose to have a wonderful life even when all the bad things are happening. You can choose to focus on the good. It is because of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He atoned for the sins of all mankind. This isn't a light matter. This is everything to us. If we repent and follow all the commandments, we will be saved. Through Christ, He will make weak things strong. We can progress. We can learn. We can conquer. Just because everything is going so well in life, DOES NOT mean it is only for a short time. We can find hope, truth, and light even in the hardest of times. I know that to be true. God loves all of His children and He will never forget you. Let's remember to never forsake Him.
So, my life is wonderful now. AND IT CAN CONTINUE TO BE WONDERFUL. I have to trust God and press forward.. even through the storms of life. We will endure! We don't need to be worried about the future and waiting for something AWFUL to happen. That's just not fun at all.
And maybe, you all think I'm crazy. Maybe.. I am just too happy. MAYBE, you're right. But, I have sincerely tried it. I have prayed for comfort to be happy and find joy in the journey. AND IT WORKS. With the craziness of life, you can still proudly exclaim "My life is going wonderfully." (This totally reminds me of President Uchtdorf's talk from October 2015 General Conference.. which you should re-read. https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/10/it-works-wonderfully?lang=eng) WE HAVE THE RESTORED GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.. there is always something to be excited about.
If you are having a hard time.. START WITH WHAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR. Really think about it, write down the blessings you receive, and thank your Heavenly Father.
I love you all and hope you have an incredible week. You can do this!
